Booklet printing
From a home printer to a book that folds
A folded booklet puts two book pages on each side of a sheet, arranged so that once the stack is folded the pages run in order. The studio does the arranging and adds blank pages where the count needs to be a multiple of four. A 16-page book fits on just four sheets of A4 or Letter.
- 1Pick “Folded booklet” in the Print panel and download the PDF.
- 2Print double-sided and choose “flip on short edge”, at 100% scale.
- 3Keep the sheets in the order they come out, fold the stack in half.
- 4Staple twice along the fold — or sew it with a needle and thread.

Questions about the studio
Just want to merge a few images into a PDF? The simple coloring book maker does that in three clicks.
How is the studio different from the coloring book maker?
The coloring book maker turns a stack of images into a PDF in three steps. The studio is for when you want to design the book itself: a choice of covers, frames, captions, a "this book belongs to" page, puzzles with answers in the back, and a folded-booklet print layout. Both are free.
How do I print a folded booklet?
Choose "Folded booklet" under Print. The PDF puts two pages on each sheet in the right order. Print double-sided with "flip on short edge", keep the sheets in order, fold the stack in half and staple along the fold.
Will my book still be here tomorrow?
Yes, on the same device and browser. The studio saves as you go, pictures included, in your browser’s own storage. Nothing is uploaded, so it will not follow you to another device, and a private window forgets it when closed.
Can the title use emoji, accents or other alphabets?
Yes. Pages are drawn by your browser, so anything it can display — umlauts, emoji, Cyrillic, Japanese — prints exactly as you see it in the preview.
Why are the cover letters hollow?
So they can be colored in too. If you would rather have solid letters, switch off "Outline letters" in the Cover panel, and pick a color if you are printing in color.
Can I sell a book I make here?
Pictures you drew or photographed are yours. Sheets from our free library are for personal, non-commercial use, so please do not put books containing them up for sale.
