How to Set Up a Birthday Party Coloring Station
Turn any birthday into a hit with a low-cost coloring station that uses personalized pages of each kid’s favorite thing.
A pile of crayons and a few good prints can keep a room of kids happy for longer than any inflatable. Here is a simple setup that takes about 20 minutes to prep.
What to prep the night before
- One coloring page per guest, generated from a drawing of the birthday kid’s favorite character or theme.
- A shared “party scene” page printed on A3 for a group mural.
- Two plastic bins: one for fresh crayons, one for “used but still good”.
- A drying rack or empty shelf for finished pages so paint and marker do not smudge.
On party day
- Lay pages out with names already written in light pencil at the top.
- Set a 15-minute timer—kids color as long as they like, but the timer gives you a natural break for cake.
- Hang finished pages on a string with clothes pins as a mini gallery.
