Handmade Gifts from Kids’ Drawings: 7 Ideas That Actually Get Used
Mugs are nice. Coasters are better. Here are seven giftable projects starting from a single drawing, ranked by effort.
Grandparents love anything a grandchild made. But some gifts end up on a shelf, and others end up in daily use. These projects start from one good drawing and end with something someone actually reaches for.
Low effort (under 15 minutes)
- Framed coloring page: generate, print on heavy paper, drop into a cheap frame.
- Bookmark set: print a character small, laminate, punch a hole, tie a ribbon.
- Greeting card: fold A4 in half, print the character on the front, leave room inside.
Medium effort (an evening)
- Tote bag: use iron-on transfer paper with a high-contrast character.
- Tea towel gift: same transfer approach, usually washes better than t-shirts.
- Custom puzzle: print on sticker paper, stick onto blank puzzle board, cut.
Weekend project
- Mini comic: generate two or three characters, print, and let the kid write one-line captions in felt-tip pen.
